FRANCE: CASTOR WORK RER C

Project
Location
Paris - France
Type
Renewal of switches and crossings

Work on the CASTOR project in central Paris has been progressing at the rate of 6 weeks every summer since 1996. TSO is involved at the beginning of each work session to remove the tracks and ballast so that the area can be prepared for special foundation works to be carried out. The ultimate aim is to update the rail infrastructure to boost performance of the RER C regional express rail link. This year, our teams worked with their colleagues at SNCF Réseau to replace track with the aid of the KIROW rail mounted crane. TSO returned to the worksite at the end of the process to lay the new track so that traffic on the line could resume normal service at the end of August.
