This new showcase for TSO excellence underpins and promotes the ambitions of NGE in Latin America

Led by Alstom, the Grupo de Empresas (GdE) consortium announced its delivery of Panama City’s second subway line on 26 April. NGE rail infrastructure subsidiary TSO and its partner CIM are members of this consortium alongside Thales and Sofratesa. Delivered in record time (13 days ahead of the contract completion date) after 43 months of work, the successful commercial commissioning on 25 April owed much to the teams of TSO and CIM, the partners awarded the $130 million contract for the rail, catenary and depot equipment work packages. Line 2 is TSO’s largest international subway line currently in service. It had been prepared for partial operation on a one-off basis for World Youth Day at the end of January. Now interconnected, Lines 1 and 2 will carry 30% of the Panama City population; that’s half a million passengers every day.
